Bible Study

made for a miracle

Beginning on Sunday evening, March 30th at 6pm, FBCS will host a Lenten focused Bible Study called Made for a Miracle. The study will include learning to use your God-given gifts and talents to become part of God’s miracles. There is a YOUTH workbook and an ADULT workbook available for $18.00.  Please mark your payment with “Made for a Miracle Book” and turn it in to the office.

Use your God-given gifts and talents to become part of God’s miracles.
At some time in our lives, most of us have prayed for or hoped for a miracle—an event that seems impossible but is brought about by God’s transcendent power. But when miracles occur, did you know that you have a role to play?

If that’s true, what’s the catch? What do we have to do? What’s it going to cost us?

Popular author and pastor Mike Slaughter examines the two components of every miracle: divine action and human responsibility. For a real miracle to take place, we must act with God, using whatever gifts, talents, and abilities we have and directing them toward God’s work. We need to follow the examples of Mary in the birth of Jesus, Jesus’ followers when he healed them, and Jesus’ disciples after he rose from the dead.

This Lent and Easter, use your God-given gifts and talents for God’s glory, and get ready to be made for a miracle.

Pray like This- The Bible Study written by Steve Gaines will be offered again. Beginning on Wednesday, February 6 at 6pm the prayer meeting will begin the series as a mid-week Bible Study. If you’d like a workbook that includes weekly homework prompts, it is $15. Please mark your payment with “Pray Like This Book” and place it in the offering.

Prayer is the most dynamic discipline in the life of a believer. Yet it may be the most misunderstood and the least taught. This six-session study shows believers that following Jesus’ Model Prayer will lead them to fall more in love with God and grow in their desire to engage in conversation with Him. In this study you’ll see the significance of starting your prayers by acknowledging God as Father. You’ll learn what it means for His name to be recognized as holy. You’ll discover what you’re asking God to do when you pray for His kingdom to come and His will to be done. You’ll see what Jesus meant when He told us to ask God for daily bread. You’ll understand the importance of asking for forgiveness in your prayers. The study ends by emphasizing the need to ask God to deliver us from the evil one.

Session titles:
02/06 Our Father in Heaven
02/13 Your Name Be Honored as Holy
02/20 Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done, on Earth as It Is in Heaven

02/27 Give Us Today Our Daily Bread
03/06 And Forgive Us Our Debts, as We Also Have Forgiven Our Debtors
03/13 And Do Not Bring Us into Temptation, but Deliver Us from the Evil One

Together we’ll
• Understand how seeing God as Father affects your prayer life.

An 8-Session Study From Author Jeff Vanderstelt

Do you know what’s most important in life? Do you feel too busy to make time for those things?

This study gleans wisdom from the Book of Proverbs and from the example of Jesus to show you how to center your life on God’s priorities. You will examine the things that matter most to God and to you as a follower of Christ. Then you will learn to apply godly wisdom that will help you incorporate these activities into your busy life. In some cases, you will find that you are doing the wrong things. Or you might find that you are doing the right things for the wrong reason or in the wrong way, so they are not life-giving or fulfilling.

Each week’s session will function as a stand-alone message, providing great opportunities to invite friends and engage in conversations about a given topic through the week topically (for example, a neighborhood dinner to discuss parenting together or a focused time to build a budget).

Wisdom is learning how to do the right things at the right time in the right way. Allow God to show you what is most important in life and when and how to engage in those activities.
